Martin Truex Jr +600 | Top 5 -125 | Top 10 -390
Martin Truex Jr enters this weekend as the favorite, still on the search for his first win of the season. He won last year’s race, making that his fourth win at Sonoma, trailing only Jeff Gordon for the most Cup wins at the track. He finished 10th at COTA earlier this year, so expect Truex Jr to have race winning speed on Sunday.
Kyle Larson +750 | Top 5 +110 | Top 10 -310
Kyle Larson was granted a Playoff waiver by NASCAR earlier in the week following the chaotic Indy 500/Coca-Cola 600 double. Larson can resume his focus at Sonoma, after wrecking at Gateway yet still coming through for a Top 10 finish. Larson won at Sonoma in 2021, and won the pole for five straight Sonoma races from 2017 to 2022. The Elk Grove native will look to win in his home state this weekend.
Chase Elliott +900 | Top 5 +130 | Top 10 -250
Since NASCAR returned to Sonoma in 2021, Chase Elliott has an average finish of 5th, the best of any Cup driver. He finished 2nd in 2021, 8th in 2022, and 5th in last year’s race. Not to mention, his first career win came on a road course in Watkins Glen. He enters this weekend with an average finish of 9.9, fitting for the driver of the #9. He’ll be fast for the race this weekend.
Tyler Reddick +1000 | Top 5 +130 | Top 10 -250
Similar to Chase Elliott, Tyler Reddick also scored his first Cup Series win on a raod course at Road America. Reddick has been able to qualify inside the Top 10 in every start at Sonoma heading into the weekend…however his best finish has only been 19th. With a new track surface comes new possibilities, maybe that’s all Reddick needs to have a good run on Sunday.
Chris Buescher +1200 | Top 5 +240 | Top 10 -180
Since the debut of the NextGen in 2022, Chris Buescher has finished inside the Top 10 in ten of the twelve road course races. He’s finished 2nd in 2022 and 4th in last year’s race at Sonoma. Expect another Top 10 performance from the RFK #17 on the 1.99 mile road course.
Michael McDowell +1600 | Top 5 +240 | Top 10 -180
Michael McDowell’s best race track since the NextGen stepped onto the scene in 2022 has been Sonoma. He finished 3rd in 2022 and 7th in last year’s race, the only Top 10 finishes he’s recorded over his 11 Cup starts at Sonoma. He won on the Indy Road Course last year and won the pole last weekend at Gateway, some good momentum heading into the weekend for the Front Row Motorsports #34 Mustang.
Ross Chastain +2200 | Top 5 +380 | Top 10 +115
One of the more underrated road course racers is Ross Chastain. He’s finished inside the Top 10 in seven of his last twelve races on road courses, including three straight Top 10 finishes at Sonoma. He scored his first career Cup win at COTA in 2022, and is on the hunt for his first win of the season.
